Get your first taste of Galveston while overlooking the famed Seawall from the San Luis’ renowned pool, waterfall and grotto.  Taste-test savory seafood and tropical favorites, then depart for the historic Grand 1894 Opera House for a private concert with beloved Texan singer-songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker. Casual attire.

Monday, October 26

7:00 to 9:00 PM    Casual Night -
Lone Star Flight Museum

History buffs and big band fans will love this western evening which will take place at one of Galveston’s secret treasures – the Lone Star Flight Museum. Nestled amongst bombers and bi-planes, tables will groan with the weight of succulent shrimp and zesty barbecue, most of which will be prepared by the ports of Texas. Wear your boots and jeans and dance the night away to some true Texas country rock. Casual attire.

Tuesday, October 27

6:00 to 8:00 PM   Reception Hosted by Halifax Port Authority - Tremont Davidson Ballroom

Host of the 2010 AAPA Convention, the Halifax Port Authority invites you to a “Taste of Nova Scotia”, a precursor of the good things to come at next year’s Convention. Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada is a modern port city teeming with culture and heritage. The Gateway to Atlantic Canada has flourished as a prominent port situated on the world's second largest natural harbor. The entire Halifax region delights with its impressive array of entertainment, museums, galleries, historic sites, fine restaurants, colorful gardens and lively nightlife. Business casual attire.

The Galveston Maritime Community is pulling out all the stops for its international visitors, offering up mouth-watering gumbo, traditional accompaniments, and ice-cold beverages while demonstrating products and best practices in the areas of security, energy management and environmental solutions.

Evening            Poolside Viewing of World Series -
San Luis Resort

If the World Series schedule permits, join us poolside for a large screen viewing of Game One. There is no better way to watch Americas’ favorite pastime than on a giant screen surrounded by AAPA friends and sports lovers. Share some peanuts or enjoy a refreshment before or after you set out to sample the wares at some of Galveston’s fine restaurants. Casual attire.

Thursday, October 29

7:00 to 11:00 PM    Reception and Chairman’s Gala
Galveston Island Convention Center Grand Ballroom

Evoking memories of Galveston’s turn of the century heyday, when Texas’ richest city served as a playground for the continent, the Gala will simply furnish an opportunity for friends, old and new, to come together and enjoy. Black tie optional attire.

Friday, October 30

Moody Gardens Golf Course

Sign up for a group golf outing at a Jacobsen Hardy-designed course at the Registration/Tours desk during the Convention. Transportation and refreshments provided.

Guest Tours

Note that all tours are subject to availability and tour times may change. Tour confirmations will be included in individual guest registration packets. Attire for all tours is casual.

Cooking with the Master

Austrian-born and world-renowned Master Chef Fritz Gitschner will host a lesson in mouthwatering magic. One of only 55 chefs to pass the most rigorous culinary test, Gitschner is committed to sharing his passion. Guests will enjoy the repast prepared, accompanied by Texas wines paired for ultimate enjoyment. Activity level – low.

Historic Galveston

Home to an amazing collection of Victorian architecture including the “Broadway Beauties”, guests will ride in a deluxe coach to see Galveston’s historic Strand District and will stroll through ornate turn-of-the-century venues including the Bishop’s Palace and Moody Mansion. A delectable lunch will be served in a charming area bistro. Activity level – moderate.

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Guests will be transported by deluxe coach to the crown jewel of Houston shopping, the Galleria. This one-of-a-kind mall features a spacious layout, atrium roof panels that add sunlight and serenity, glamorous shops, and even an ice rink. There are 375 stores and a vast selection of dining options. A dining card and shopping discounts will be provided. Activity level – moderate.

Moody Gardens

Adventures await you at Moody Gardens, whose Aquarium Pyramid, Rain Forest Pyramid, and Discovery Pyramid form the famous backdrop to Galveston’s skyline. Enjoy a fascinating IMAX production, experience a close encounter with a penguin, or visit with a colorful clownfish. Activity level – moderate.

A Tasting of Texas

Haak Vineyards is making a name for Texas wines. An ambience of the old world awaits you along with premium wines, made only from Texas grapes. After a winery tour, the chef will tantalize you with some exciting pairings, and you’ll have a special opportunity to learn about the state’s artisan cheeses. Activity level – moderate.
